  18. Introduction:
  19.  
  20. DD Translator is an external translator for use
  21. with StuffIt Deluxe, available from Aladdin Systems, Inc.,
  22. Deer Part Center, #23A-171, Aptos, CA 95003-4723.
  23. This translator provides compatibility with the DD
  24. format created by Salient Software.
  25.  
  26. This translator requires that you have DD and StuffIt Deluxe or
  27. StuffIt Classic.  It is great for converting inefficient DD files
  28. into StuffIt Deluxe files to get better compression.   It will join
  29. files created by DD and expand files that are combined or compressed.

  31. Since DD files are not accepted on any major services, and DD serves
  32. only as a space saving tool instead of an archiver suitable for
  33. uploading files, most users will never need this translator unless
  34. they have DD, so the requirement of needing DD is not such a bad thing.

  36. When do you need this translator?
  37.  
  38. o You have a DD file that you want to re-compress using StuffIt's better
  39.   compression methods.
  40.  
  41. o You need to expand or join a DD file while using StuffIt Deluxe.
  42.  
  43. o You need to manipulate the contents of a DD file using StuffIt Deluxe.

  46. Installation:
  47.  
  48. The rest of this documentation assumes that you have properly
  49. installed StuffIt Deluxe and are familiar with the operation
  50. of StuffIt Deluxe.
  51.  
  52. To install this translator, placed it in the Translators
  53. folder in the System folder of your startup drive.  Then
  54. launch (or quit and relaunch, as appropriate) StuffIt Deluxe.
  55.  
  56. If you are in Standard menu mode, you must switch to Expert
  57. menu mode to use this translator.

  60. Operation:
  61.  
  62. After installation, you will have a new choice under the
  63. Other menu with the name "DD Expand..." 
  64.  
  65. To expand or join a DD file, select DD Expand...  You will be
  66. prompted for the file to expand or join.  Simply select the
  67. file and it will be expanded or joined.

  142.               duplication, shipping and/or handling costs
  143.               of distributing this software provided that
  144.               the pro-rata fee (ex: the fee of ordering a
  145.               disk/CD/tape/etc divided by the number of 
  146.               programs on it) does not exceed US $1.  You
  147.               may include this software in any compilation
  148.               even if you sell the compilation for a
  149.               profit provided that the pro-rata fee defined
  150.               above does not exceed US $1 for this software.

  228. the Commercial Computer Software Restricted Rights clause at
